NEWS FROM THE SA COMMUNITY SECTOR
MyTime is a national program that offers support for anyone caring for a child with a disability, developmental delay or chronic medical condition. MyTime groups are hosted by local community organisations in metropolitan and country locations throughout South Australia and usually meet for 2 hours each week during school terms. They provide links to local community and support services, research-based information on caring for a child with a disability or chronic medical condition, social activities and information sharing with others who care for a child with special needs. A play helper engages children who attend meetings with their parents. Find out more on tel. 1800 889 997, mytime@parentingrc.org.au, www.mytime.net.au
The Australian Centre for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies is currently working with Social Traders to conduct Australia’s first national survey of social enterprises. The online survey for Finding Australia’s Social Enterprise Sector is now open until 2 November 2009 at survey.qut.edu.au/survey/168348/2346. Invitations to participate have been emailed to social enterprises across Australia, but there may be some that have not been contacted so far. In appreciation for participation, all eligible organisations that complete the survey are entered in a draw to win $1500 worth of organisational development services from the social enterprise of their choice. Information about the project is available at www.socialeconomy.net.au and queries can be directed to Dr Nick Collyer at Nicholas.collyer@qut.edu.au.

WHAT’S ON
As the end of the year approaches information about Christmas events is sought by people throughout the community. Please help us to make this information easy to find by adding carols nights, pageants and any Christmas or end-of-year celebrations to Eventspool. Call 822 2755 if you need any help.
We also ask service providers to let us know about dates of closure over the Christmas-New Year period. Each year Connecting Up Australia collates this information and makes it available on our website. This enables service providers and individuals to find out where help is available at a time when many services are closed. Please send the relevant details to rd@connectingup.org.
