Connecting Up Australia (formerly CISA) provides community services and events information and is a national voice for the  nonprofit sector on information and communications technology (ICT) issues.

NEWS FROM THE SA COMMUNITY SECTOR

The Smart State PC Donation Program helps South Australian community based, not-for-profit organisations to obtain personal computer equipment from surplus government stocks. The SA Government makes surplus government computers available to community groups at no cost. PC equipment is donated to organisations that can show that the equipment will be used to benefit the community - www.premcab.sa.gov.au/pdf/smart_state_guidelines_24.pdf

Invite Cancer Council SA to your next meeting. Bowel cancer is the second most common cause of cancer death in South Australians, but it doesn’t have to be. If diagnosed early, 90% of bowel cancers can be cured. Screening for bowel cancer can save lives. Cancer Council SA has trained educators who can talk to your group about reducing your risk of bowel cancer and provide information about bowel screening. TAFE SA English Language Services offers basic and intermediate English courses to help new arrivals to study or find a job or and to learn about life in Australia. Courses are free for people who are eligible for the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP). There are also opportunities to learn English at home through distance learning and the Home Tutor Scheme. Guide Dogs SA.NT have returned to their renovated offices at 251 Morphett Street, Adelaide. This organisation provides guide dog training and support and a range of support services for people who are blind or vision impaired, deaf or hearing impaired, or deaf-blind. The Environmental Defenders Office (SA) Inc. is holding a one day seminar, Biodiversity & the Law: Building Blocks for Life, 8.30am to 5pm on Monday 3 May 2010 at the German Club, 223 Flinders Street, Adelaide. Connecting Up Australia will close the Eventspool service on 30 June 2010.

We have reluctantly reached the decision to discontinue this free community service that we have provided since 2002. To remain current and useful the Eventspool website needs redevelopment but we do not have funds required to do this. There are now a number of free community events websites that provide a similar service. These include:
