Happy 30th birthday Trees For Life and Connecting Up!

We’re 30! Connecting Up has just celebrated our 30th anniversary. Trees For Life, has also turned 30 - so we’d like to let you know what our respective organisations are doing and what we have achieved over this time.

TREES FOR LIFE is one of South Australia’s most successful and respected not for profit environmental organisations. It was established in 1981 to revegetate South Australia and protect its remnant vegetation. It has now grown into one of the largest volunteer revegetation and bushland protection organisations of its kind in the world. Trees For Life has twice been awarded Australia’s most prestigious environmental award, the Banksia Award, in 2006 and 2008, and in 2005 received the United Nations Association of Australia Environment Day Award for Best Community Based Environment Initiative.

CONNECTING UP started life in 1981 as the Community Information Support Service of SA (CISSsa). It was established as the result of an initiative of South Australian Council of Social Service, Adelaide Citizens Advice Bureau and the Advisory Centres Association SA who saw the need for a central body to  act as an information clearinghouse and provider of community services information.

A brief history of Connecting Up is available here and you can see photos from our recent celebrations.

We would love to hear from other organisations that deserve recognition for their years of service - if you have a big birthday coming up please let us know!
