WeDo app to connect young South Australians with volunteering
A smart phone app is available to help young South Australians find volunteering opportunities and keep track of their volunteering hours.

The WeDo app makes volunteering easy by allowing users to search hundreds of different roles and organisations throughout South Australia, making it simple to find an ideal fit.

Evelyn O’Loughlin, CEO Volunteering SA&NT said that she is extremely proud of this initiative which was launched last September.

“It targets young people - an often untapped demographic for volunteers - and hopefully changes their perception of volunteering.

“By volunteering time and skills everyone can make a very real difference to the community. You could also find a role that gives you that extra bit of experience to get you over the line for your dream job”, Evelyn said.

Volunteers record their volunteer hours, the volunteer-involving organisation then verifies it which is a useful tool when applying for jobs.

The WeDo app was developed by Volunteering SA&NT on behalf of the State Government.
 

Development of the WeDo app 
The State Government is committed to encouraging young South Australians to give volunteering a go. The WeDo app helps to make volunteering more accessible to young people.

Volunteering is a two-way exchange, benefitting both volunteer and the community. More than 900,000 South Australians volunteer, contributing around 1.7 million volunteer hours each week. This volunteering effort is valued at $4.9 billion each year.
