Services
- Home help - short term cleaning (max. 8 visits unless waiting for services from Domiciliary Care SA or a Community Aged Care Package - if so will assist for 12 months). Assistance with laundry, either weekly or fortnightly. Spring cleaning/intensive cleaning may also be available
- Personal care - short term assistance (up to 3 hrs/week) for people waiting for a Community Aged Care Package
- Shopping/banking - short-term assistance for those temporarily unable to access local shops or Interim Assistance for people waiting for a Community Aged Care Package. Assistance with shopping as not normally done on client's behalf
- Meals - short term assistance with meal preparation for people temporarily needing assistance and Interim Assistance for those waiting for a Community Aged Care Package
- Home maintenance - limited to health and safety work only, including gutter cleaning. Hourly fee plus cost of materials
- Home modification - minor essential work only. Hourly fee plus cost of materials with subsidy available for safety rails
- Gardening - limited to garden cleanups only, max. 4hrs/year. Council provides services through a subsidised private contractor
- Respite care - in-home, short term in-house respite visits if carer away. Long term in-house respite packages up to 3hours per week
- Transport - Community bus with wheelchair access available for all residents who have difficulty accessing transport. Provides transport to local shopping centres and various social meetings. Donation requested. Contact Burnside Community Centre for bookings. Limited personal transport for frail aged and younger people with disabilities and their carers to medical appointments within Burnside dependent upon availability of volunteers or to the Royal Adelaide Hospital via taxi
- Social support - wide range of activity groups and bus trips. Transport and companionship available for some programs
- Information and referral - also available from Burnside Council Community Information Service. Monthly information sessions (February - December 2nd Tuesday of each month). Contact 8366 4142 for further details
