Our aim is to resolve complaints impartially, informally and as quickly as reasonably practicable. If we cannot assist with a particular complaint, we will explain why, and suggest other avenues for resolving the matter.

  • Consider and investigate complaints from people who believe they have been treated unfairly or unreasonably by an Australian Government department or agency
  • Investigate complaints about problems that overseas students or intending overseas students may have with private education and training in Australia
  • The Ombudsman is independent and impartial with recommendation powers if complaints are found to be justified
  • All information treated with privacy and respect
