HATs - Heritage, Arts & Traditions

Promoting and developing living cultural traditions

HATS is a not-for-profit organisation that promotes and develops living cultural traditions in the Clare Valley. HATS has transformed the historic Auburn Courthouse, where little had taken place in the past 30 years, into a thriving centre for arts performance and activity. In doing so HATS has created a new model for delivering arts to regional South Australia.

Since its launch in 2011, HATS has been recognised with several awards including the Ruby Arts Award 2013 for Excellence in the Arts.

HATS achievements so far have included music theatre, puppetry and cabaret performances, a boutique music festival, a music camp at historic Bungaree Station, school and library performances and a women’s community choir. Artists from France, UK, Canada, Iran, USA, Ireland, Scotland and from around Australia have performed in the region. Through the arts HATS is supporting the revitalisation of the region. It has a vision to create a major cultural arts presence with the help of its team of over 40 volunteers.

HATS has recently stretched its wings further with some Adelaide based projects in partnership with Adelaide City Council City Library and the State Library of SA, as well as presenting three international touring performers in concert in Adelaide.
