New LGBTI services at Seniors Information Service

Services for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender & Intersex Community at Seniors Information Service

Seniors Information Service (SIS) is offering a new range of services for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender & Intersex (LGBTI) community. SIS aims to support people with relevant information on aged care, ageing, disability, retirement living, financial and legal services as well as enabling social support, activities and community connections within a respectful and safe community centre.

Some of the services and programs available include:

Awareness and Sensitivity Professional Development Workshops: Our LGBTI Community Worker has 20 years experience working within the LGBTI community as well as working across the youth, community and aged sectors. Paul has developed and facilitated awareness training for small and large community and private organisations.  LGBTI sensitivity and awareness training can be tailored to suit your service or organisation’s needs. This training ranges from a two hour general information session to a one or two-day workshop. We are also available to consult with services or organisations to develop steps towards creating an inclusive service for staff, consumers and clients.

Community Dinner: Meeting monthly on a Thursday evening in one of Adelaide’s local pubs, the LGBTI community dinner is an open invitation for people aged 50 and over. The purpose is to come together and have a meal and/or a drink, socialise with each other, maintain connections or build new friendships.

Movie Afternoon: In a friendly and safe space enjoy a film and socialise with other LGBTI people aged 50 and over, 1pm-4pm monthly 4th Friday.

Over 50s Social Drop-in session: Catch-up and have a coffee with other LGBTI folk in a safe welcoming space with the opportunity to make new friends or reconnect with old friends, whilst getting support, information or listening to guest speakers, 2nd Thursday of each month 1pm-5pm.

Wills & Estate Planning: One hour information sessions on topics including Wills, Power of Attorney, Advanced Care Directives, Trusts and Jointly-Owned Assets.
