Location SA Map Viewer

Making government spatial data available to the public

The Location SA Map Viewer is built on the central repository of government spatial data known as Location SA, originally created for government agencies to share up-to-date spatial information and services. This public-facing map viewer allows anyone to view this data on a web map.

The Location SA Map Viewer is part of the government’s commitment to open data. It will improve access to government spatial information and support South Australia’s digital economy.

It allows citizens to search and view a broad range of government datasets displayed over a satellite image or a road base map.

Examples of the types of information that citizens can access include the location of recreational trails for walking, cycling and horse-riding, school zones, planning development zones, road crash locations and many more diverse themes.

Links from the Map Viewer allow users to download many of the complete spatial datasets from the SA Government Data Directory.

Users of the Location SA Map Viewer can provide feedback via YourSAy website on the type of government spatial data is of most interest to them.

Around 160 government datasets have been mapped initially with more to be added in the future.
