Unley Gardeners' Plant Rescue 2018

Unley Gardeners' Plant Rescue
Unley Gardeners Plant Rescue is a dedicated group of women who have been together since February 2003.

What do you do?
Our main aim is to collect unwanted plants from people who are changing or downsizing their gardens, moving house, or sadly are having to move from their much loved home and garden into residential care.

Where can I donate my plants?
Unley Gardeners Plant Rescue has recently moved to the rear of the Fullarton Park Community Centre, (off Fisher Street), where all the donated plants can be delivered. We can however, collect plants in the Unley area by arrangement, if it is not possible for them to be delivered to the Fullarton Park Community Centre.

What happens to the plants?
All donated plants will be re-potted and nurtured by the volunteers until sold. The Group holds sales three times a year, in Autumn, Spring and early Summer with all proceeds being donated to Charity. Since our inception, Unley Gardeners Plant Rescue has raised more than $55,000 from the sale of “rescued” plants, and this has been donated to various smaller charities that do not receive other funding.

Which charities have you supported?
Angel Flight, which flies children from remote areas for medical treatment in the city or to a larger regional centre.
The Alzheimer’ Association’s Sensory Garden Project
Louise Place Women’s Shelter
SAND (Stillborn and Newborn Deaths), which assists families who have gone through this heartbreaking experience
Angel Gowns, which provides gowns for grieving parents to bury their stillborn babies in. Zahra Foundation, supporting women who are victims of Domestic Violence and
Sttars, supporting Survivors of Torture and Trauma

When do you meet?
The Group meets fortnightly on Tuesday mornings at the rear of the Fullarton Park Community Centre, and our sales are also held at this venue.

How can people help you?
Unley Gardeners Plant Rescue is always looking for rare and different plants which discerning gardeners would find interesting and which would be of interest to the purchasers at our sales, as well as the usual plants found in suburban gardens and unwanted but much loved pot plants.
