Techspace Learning - yes we have robots!

Understanding robots and robotics is becoming a critical skills for the future and SAcommunity has noticed a few new groups on it's listing looking at robots in STEM such as Adelaide Robot Combat group and SciWorld and more recently had the chance to talk to Techspace Learning - find out more about this not-for-profit below:

Techspace Learning Incorporated

In 2013 the Hallett Cove Robotics Club was set up to provide an opportunity for local young people to play with and learn about microprocessors and robotics. It was expected that it would last a year or two . Three years later, Techspace Learning Incorporated was formed by parents of the club to expand the opportunities to the larger Adelaide community.

Techspace Learning is a not-for-profit organisation that exists to provide opportunities for young people (Or the young at heart, there is no age restriction), to engage in STEM related activities in an informal, hands-on, self-paced environment. Our activities are intended to be fun so there is no expectation of achievement or outcome beyond people enjoying themselves (Including us.)

We run regular series' of workshops where we train individuals how to program the Arduino microprocessor and use it to make automated gadgets and robots. These start with Introductory sessions where people get an idea of what we do. Our Beginners workshops are where novices are talked through the logic and processes of programming using a simple "drag and drop" programming system. Individuals can also do Intermediate or Advanced workshops where programming is done in a "C"-based code.

Techspace Learning also runs the Adelaide City Robotics Club.  Here participants can engage with others who share an interest in designing and building their own creations by either joining in with various group projects, or bringing their own creation along to get advice or criticism (Constructive, of course).

We also regularly have stands at science shows where we exhibit and demonstrate some of our creations. (Science Alive, Oliphant Science Awards Open Day, MakerFaire)

Techspace Learning can come to you. We have delivered our workshops at Libraries, Schools and other institutions and community groups across the Adelaide region. Visit www.techspacelearning.org
