Eligibility:
Australians citizens aged 18 or over are eligible to enrol for Federal, State and local government elections. Enroling and voting for Australian elections is compulsory

The AEC is the Commonwealth statutory authority responsible for conducting federal elections and referendums and maintaining electoral rolls.

Enrolment forms are available at official Post Offices, Medicare, Centrelink and ATO as well as from the website.

Postal voting is available upon announcement of each election. Electors can apply in writing for a postal vote or using the form available on the website.

People who have mobility issues or who live more than 20km from a polling place, can apply to become a General Postal Voter and have forms sent out before each election.

Overseas travellers can check the website to determine how they can vote overseas.
