The event features an impressive gathering of 19 South Australian garden clubs and commercial vendors working together to show and sell plants. Stall holders will offer specialist plant information, demonstrations from very experienced, senior growers, as well as a monster plant sale.
Visitors can take in the magnificent display of flowers, enjoy a sausage sizzle or food from the onsite food van and participate in the giant raffle drawn at 1.30 pm. From humble beginnings in 2005 the flower show now requires a venue the size of the auditorium at Greyhound Park, Angle Park, the second year it's been held here, with plenty of parking space available.
The Festival of Flowers provides a unique opportunity to see, learn about and buy your favourite plants, gain first-hand knowledge from enthusiastic and knowlegeable experts, and perhaps be inspired to join one of the many garden clubs themselves!
Visit The Festival of Flowers for more details.
The group was established in 1939 by orchid growers in Adelaide, and currently boasts roughly 340 members dedicated to their aim to preserve, protect, and spread knowledge about orchids. The club also hopes to raise awareness on the history, development and hybridisation of orchids, promoting them as a valuable resource in Australia's ornamental horticultural industry.
Apart from organising the Festival of Flowers, the Orchid Club conducts various events throughout the year including providing workshops for novice growers to learn about orchid culture from the club's skilled and experienced orchid growers.
