Why become a partner?

Your council, library, or government department is a partner of SAcommunity.
Established in 1981, we are a free online directory of South Australian community services funded by the Government of South Australia.

· Want a way to manage, update and refer people to local community information?

As part of your partnership, your council, library or government department can Login for:
· SAcommunity Editor access: Enabling you to add or update records about community services operating in your council area and South Australia on the SAcommunity website for referrals.
· SAcommunity Exporter access: Enabling you to export an Excel spreadsheet with updated contact details and information on the community services operating in your council/area and across South Australia.
· SAcommunity Statistics: View the SAcommunity Analytics and Statistics page providing a data summary on community service information demands in your council. i.e. https://sacommunity.org/berribarmera
· SAcommunity Media: View tagged Media articles with stories on community services operating in your area to share across your media channels. Provide us with relevant articles for the community sector to distribute across SAcommunity's broad readership.

Would you like to know more?
The SAcommunity Directory can be used to support councils and libraries in building relationships with organisations, clubs, groups and services who work in the area. Raising awareness of and promoting their community services widely across the state, providing references for individuals for assistance or participation and fostering active community connections. The directory is also accessible through the One Card Public Library Catalogue, by selecting the ‘Related Services’ tab in the search results to find local services that are associated with your search terms.
SAcommunity Data and contact information exports are provided under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Australia Licence and up-to-the-minute updated information can be used for communication with local organisations. Such as email campaigns regarding community grant information, for partnerships and networking such as for community events, or for community consultation.
A static export of SAcommunity data is also added annually to the Data.SA South Australian Government Data Directory.
SAcommunity Media articles can assist in understanding and introducing organisations, their activities, ‘come n’ try’ and fundraising events across the state.
Councils can link to or follow these stories and SAcommunity is always interested in raising awareness of relevant council, library or government community events such as Street Fairs, Christmas Pageants or smaller events and online activities such as Public Library Storytime Sessions online.

SAcommunity Statistics can assist with research and community development projects, providing information on services available, services in demand and identifying gaps in service provision in the council area, or across councils.

Provides a data visualisation of community services by their primary category (listings) and service demand (sessions) within a council area to assist with understanding community needs and council or public library decision-making.
SAcommunity Volunteers and the Council Volunteer Partner Program
SAcommunity is provided by our partners and stakeholders and maintained by a team of volunteers who contribute their background, skills and knowledge to the program, gaining valuable work experience and professional development opportunities.

What is the key to SAcommunity?
SAcommunity is a seed site with 89% of searches to SAcommunity via Google as the service collects, reviews, collates and summarises community service information.
SAcommunity Editor access means that your council/library can assist to maintain the information in the directory, local knowledge providing local information for everyone.
Traditionally, this information is dynamic, fragmented and dispersed across websites, social media, noticeboards and news articles. SAcommunity is a tool that councils and libraries can use when contacted by local community groups to help raise their awareness, or when searching for local services, or when e-lists are needed to mail out information to local groups.
SAcommunity provides a single collaboratively editable website to present this information and a single data export source to use. Conserving and maximising resources required in maintaining the same data and contact details across and within councils.
About Us
Established in 1981, the SAcommunity service is funded by the Government of South Australia and Public Library Services, and provided in collaboration with our stakeholder network of councils, libraries and service providers to conserve and maximise resources usually required in generating and maintaining the same data and contact details between and within individual councils and departments across the state.
SAcommunity is provided by Connecting Up, a service of the Infoxchange Group, a not-for-profit social enterprise that has delivered technology for social justice for over 25 years. Providers of the Australia-wide Service Seeker directory and Ask Izzy a website that connects people in need with services.
About SAcommunity Partners and their contribution
SAcommunity assists partners in councils and libraries to support the goals of community services and assists with community development in their area
Partners can contribute by:
a) Providing an SAcommunity Link on their council/library website i.e. Port Augusta Council
b) Undertaking an annual email campaign encouraging community services in your council to update their information on SAcommunity
c) Assisting with keeping details correct any of the following either themselves, with volunteers or by encouraging groups to update themselves:
- Adding any community service’s updated information to the webform: https://sacommunity.org/update-listing
- Emailing SAcommunity regarding updated community service information support@sacommunity.org or by leaving a voicemail by phone 08 7095 2233
- Directly updating community service records on the website as with SAcommunity Editor access (or for groups to claim and update their record)
- Joining the Council Volunteer Partnerships program, providing a volunteer or staff member to assist in updating their local council’s services
d) Contributing to SAcommunity media with relevant community sector stories or referring organisations to contact SAcommunity by email support@sacommunity.org via SAcommunity Media form or by phone on 08 7095 2233
Maintenance takes a village, so the directory continues to present updated, authoritative and relevant details that all councils, libraries, services and the public can share.
