The Croatian Folkloric Arts Festival is a celebration of the rich cultural heritage of Croatian people and will be filled with music, dance and song. It promises to be a great opportunity for anyone to attend and experience the many beautiful aspects of Croatian culture and traditions.

This year the festival will include participation from six groups from around Australia that will take to the stage performing dances and songs from different regions around Croatia, all dressed to impress in traditional Croatian clothing. Audiences are invited to purchase tickets on Trybooking, so they can enjoy a wonderful Croatian cultural experience on the 17th of June 2023.

The goal of the event is to bring together traditional Croatian dance groups from around Australia into one place to celebrate Croatian culture together for a weekend. This event was originally set to go ahead in 2020 after the first Croatian Folkloric Arts Festival held in 2019, in Perth, Western Australia but the festival has been postponed till now and HFS Lenek are thrilled to share this experience in Adelaide this year.

The hosts of the festival, HFS Lenek Adelaide is a not-for-profit dance group that is a sub-organisation of The Croatian Club Adelaide. Croatian Folklore in South Australia has a 70-year history with the first recorded performance taking place in 1951. In 2023, Lenek has over 100 dancers and musicians from the age of four. HFS Lenek is completely run by volunteers that use their time to raise money, organise and teach Croatian-Australian youth traditional Croatian dance to encourage a connection to their culture in a unique way.

In 2023 Lenek has 6 groups separated by age groups starting at 4 years old and going to 30+. Currently there are 11 volunteer dance teachers and 12 volunteer committee members that are committed to continuing the celebration of Croatian culture in South Australia.

This is the first time that Lenek will be hosting the Croatian Folkloric Arts Festival 2023 in Adelaide making this an unmissable event for South Australians. The festival is a precursor to HFS Lenek’s regular annual event ‘Lenek Zabava’ held in October where Lenek’s 6 groups perform a range of dancers with a dinner for audiences to enjoy.
