FOOD ON THE TABLE ANNOUNCES FIFTH ANNUAL SOUP & SLEEP EVENT – HELPING TO ENSURE THAT “NO ONE GOES HUNGRY”

South Australian charity, Food on the Table, is proud to announce the return of its fifth annual “Soup & Sleep” fundraiser on Thursday, 5 June 2025. This crucial initiative aims to raise awareness and vital funds to combat food insecurity and homelessness in South Australia.

An Unforgettable Night of Community, Compassion, and Action
Taking place at Food on the Table headquarters in Hindmarsh, Soup & Sleep 2025 will bring together community members, local businesses, and philanthropic leaders to make a real difference. Participants will join iconic South Australian chefs in preparing nutritious meals that will be distributed to people in need across the state. The event will also feature live entertainment from generous local performers and powerful personal stories from individuals who have overcome homelessness.

To deepen their understanding of the struggles faced by thousands of South Australians, participants will then sleep outside on a simple piece of cardboard, experiencing the harsh realities of rough sleeping in the middle of an Adelaide winter.

New for 2025 – Soup & Sleep Goes Local
This year, Food on the Table is expanding the initiative by inviting families, workplaces, and community groups to host their own Soup & Sleep events at home or in the office. This new approach allows more people to engage with the cause, raise funds, and educate children and communities about the stark realities of food poverty and homelessness.

The Power of Giving: How You Can Help
In the past financial year alone, Food on the Table has provided over 90,000 meals to vulnerable individuals, including those experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, and extreme food poverty. Every week, the organisation delivers more than 2,500 meals to charity partners, emergency shelters, and family crisis centres across Adelaide.

CEO Rikki Cooke expressed deep gratitude to the community and corporate sponsors for their ongoing support.

“Just $2 is all it takes to provide a healthy, nourishing meal to someone who’s hungry and experiencing food insecurity. Without the generosity of our community, we wouldn’t be able to meet our mission to ensure that ‘No One Goes Hungry.’ Each night, approximately 7,000 people in South Australia face homelessness – heartbreakingly, 15% of them are children under 12. Thanks to partners like Credit Union SA, we can continue to make a tangible difference in people’s lives.”
