Are you interested in art and painting, or perhaps you're wanting to learn more about the art of Porcelain Painting (China Painting)?

The Australasian Porcelain Art Teachers Association of South Australia are welcoming new students to join the South Australia China Painters' Association to see regular demonstrations and displays of porcelain art. Classes are also available to be held at private surburban studios to learn all about the art of porcelain painting.

 
All members and teachers of the Porcelain Art Centre are experienced teachers, and are committed to showcasing the relevant techniques and materials involved to create both traditional and contemporary porcelain art styles.

Whether you're a seasoned artist or a curious beginner, the Porcelain Art Centre provide beginner-friendly "Come and Try" art styles and classes to spark your creativity!

Learn to Paint on Porcelain

  • Two introductory 2 hour step-by-step lessons
  • Cost: $75 (includes all tools to use in class with a qualified porcelain teacher and kiln fired porcelain to take home)

Hand-Built Clay Workshop

  • 1(1/2) days introductory workshop to hand-built original clay artwork
  • Workshop date and time TBA
  • Cost: $130 for 1(1/2) days (includes all materials)
  • Experienced tutor artist specializing in clay

Pen & Wash using Watercolour

  • Half day introduction to pen and wash using watercolour
  • Time: 9:30am - 12:00pm
  • Cost: $45 (includes all materials to be used in class)

Hand-Painted, Kiln-Fired Glass Workshop

  • Introduction to modern and traditional glass art on everyday glassware
  • Workshop date and time TBA
  • Cost: $70 for 2 x 2(1/2) hours (includes glassware, all materials and firing)

Glass Swirling Workshop

  • 2 day glass swirling workshop

  • Cost: $75 for 2 x 3 hours each day (includes all materials and kiln firing)

In addition to these workshops, Betty Hermel also offers a regular two-hour painting class on Monday nights in her home studio.

Porcelain Painting (China Painting) is the art of applying mixed powdered mineral colour to porcelain which is then kiln-fired to create modern and traditional art. The techniques and materials available today ensure that the art of porcelain painting is innovative, with enamels, gold, texture pastes and lustres to enhance the final result.
