Once a month during the Spring, Summer and Autumn months Government House Grounds, will again be open and welcoming visitors. Her Excellency’s and Mr Bunten’s aim is to make Government House a place where more South Australians feel welcome and are able to visit.
Garden Tours
Free tours of the majestic and historical Government House Gardens will be hosted by the Friends of the Botanic Gardens, from 10.45am to 11.45am.
The first event is Friday 5 September 2025, then on 3 October 2025, 7 November 2025, 5 December 2025 and continue in 2026 on Friday 9 January, 6 February, 6 March, 10 April and 1 May.
These dates match with the Lunch on the Lawns dates.
Registrations are required for these guided garden tours as numbers are limited, through a booking process at www.governor.sa.gov.au.
Lunch on the Lawns
Spring has officially started and with our weather slowly but surely starting to warm up, Government House is open again for their very popular Lunch on the Lawns.
Her Excellency invites you to come into the Government House gardens with your picnic lunch, spread out a rug and enjoy the surroundings, while listening to a community band or orchestra.
These free Lunch on the Lawns events, run from September 2025 to May 2026, once a month, on the first or second Friday of the month, from 12 noon to 2pm.
The first event is Friday 5 September 2025, then on 3 October 2025, 7 November 2025, 5 December 2025 and continue in 2026 on Friday 9 January, 6 February, 6 March, 10 April and 1 May.
BYO food, rugs and picnic chairs, come through the main gates, choose your picnic spot and enjoy your lunch on the Government House Lawns.
Lunch on the Lawns is part of Her Excellency’s and Mr Bunten’s aim to make Government House a place where more South Australians feel welcome and are able to visit.
