About the organisation:

The Legion of Frontiersman Cadet Corp is an independent, community-based cadet organisation with proud British heritage through Countess Mountbatten’s Own Regiment.

They meet every Friday night between 7pm and 9.30 pm during school terms, at the historic Fort Glanville, Semaphore Park, the Corps welcomes co-ed cadets aged 9-18 including young people with disabilities (conditions apply).

Training blends the traditions of English cadet programs with practical skills such as drill, bushcraft, radio communication, compass work, and orienteering. Cadets also play a valued role in the community, assisting veterans’ organisations at memorial events with Catafalque Guards and other ceremonial duties.

The Legion is supported by D.E.W. Parks and Wildlife and the Minister for the Environment, Minister Close, who assist with the use of Fort Glanville. Adult members come from all walks of life — from ex-service members and reservists to police and first responders — and are checked by the required state and federal laws with child safety checks.

Membership (annual fee and term fees) is kept affordable, with uniforms supplied and only minimal additional costs. Veterans organisations such as the Naval Association, National Servicemens Association, a some RSL branch's such as Seaton RSL are great supporters of the Legion and the Legion has assisted the Largs RSL yearly with the November Fort to Fort walk since the first event.
