In a first for the Festival, a truly immersive ‘Festa in the Plaza’ will take over Festival Plaza for an all inclusive, all-encompassing 2-day Opening Event (Friday 7 and Saturday 8 November) that will bring authentic Italian food and beverage vendors, music, dancing, design and culture all to the table.
The Opening Event will showcase a curated Italian offering which will spread across three designated areas. The free event will allow guests to wander through and enjoy ‘Via del Gusto’ (The Taste Lane), ‘Piazza Centrale’ (The Heartbeat) and ‘Osteria Terrazza’ (Terrace Kitchen) – with every twist and turn offering new and old Italian fare favourites and a Nonna approved family friendly festival atmosphere.
Adelaide Italian Festival Chair Gina Marchetti said the 2025 Program was designed to inspire South Australians – both young and old – to explore the many ways in which Italian culture weaves its way through our lives.
“When the Adelaide Italian Festival first started in 1976, it was really just created for the Italian community to enjoy – and that they did. However, throughout the years this Festival has grown and with it we have been fortunate enough to welcome a much broader audience who have wanted to celebrate this wonderful way of life.”
“Pizza, pasta, zeppole (Italian donuts), wine and spirits, wonderfully moving music, design and art, fashion, gelato, cinema experiences and more – the Adelaide Italian Festival is proud to showcase such a diverse offering.”
“Our Signature Events and open access events span across venues throughout Adelaide – from your local Italian community club, to Italian restaurants and wineries, local sports clubs and cinemas. Paint and Sip classes, cooking masterclasses, food tour trails, exceptional long lunches – we couldn’t have fit more into this Festival. It’s packed with Italian flare and fare.”
The 2025 Signature Events expand well beyond the Opening Event on the 7 & 8 November 2025 and moving Journey Mass on the 15 November 2025 3.30pm - 5.30pm at St Francis Xavier's Cathedral. A heartfelt tribute to the migrant spirit-honouring the resilience, traditions, and faith of generations of Italian families who made Adelaide their home.
