All are welcome to celebrate Closing the Gap Day on Thursday 19 March 2026 at Adelaide Showgrounds.
For the first time, Nunkuwarrin Yunti will be hosting the event that will bring together community and social services right here on Kaurna Yerta.
It’s a day to be proud and stand in recognition of the resilience and strengths of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
There will be plenty of activites for the whole family including: community market stalls, kids’ arts and crafts, native animals, ninja course, live performances, and the opportunity to meet sports personalities from Port Adelaide, Adelaide Crows and Basketball SA.
Health, education, employment and social services will also be offered such as free health screenings and government support services.

Nunkuwarrin Yunti is a not-for-profit, Aboriginal community-controlled organisation delivering health and community services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across South Australia.

The organisation's name means “Working together – doing right together” and was founded in the 1960s by the late Mrs Gladys Elphick and continues to support better health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
In 2026, we are expecting around 3,000 people to gather at the Adelaide Showgrounds for Closing the Gap Day in celebration of unity, culture and community.
