We often get asked to help not-for-profit and community groups promote their events. Some events we are able to mention via our twitter account and others we include in the monthly SAcommunity newsletter. Unfortunately, we're not able to promote everything that people contact us about, so we've put together this little guide about how to promote your community event.

It can be a worthwhile exercise to list your event with local papers such as Messenger News, The Courier and Rural Press. There are many others listed on SAcommunity. If you have a community radio station operating in your area, give them a call and let them know about your event. Send them a press release as well.

If you'd like to start using Facebook and Twitter to promote your organisations activities, then make sure you read our Facebook 101 and Twitter 101 guides first.
