Happy New Year to all!

2013 has just begun - but let's look back for a few minutes at 2012. This was a big year for SAcommunity because we topped 1 million annual visits to the website. It was good to see that our information is reaching many people and allowing them to find the help they need or become actively involved in community life.

We ran our annual survey in December 2012 to find out more about who is using SAcommunity, what they are looking for and what is the resulting impact. Over 700 people responded. Here's a brief summary of what we found:

  • People who work in not-for-profit and government organisations and membersof the public are the major users
  • SAcommunity is used by women more frequently than men
  • People are finding SAcommunity through web search and word of mouth
  • Most respondents said that
    • they were able to find the information they were looking for in SAcommunity
    • the information they found was useful
    • it prompted them to take action

Here are some of the comments we received:

  • An excellent resource to find services across the state with links to local services
  • Easiest place to find SA services
  • Helped me link people in with activities in their local area
  • I cannot imagine myself or my community not having access to this information. It is an invaluable reference tool and one that I hope will continue
  • SAcommunity twitter feed helps me keep on top of what's out there for Adelaideans

We would like to thank everyone who responded and we congratulate Andrew, the lucky winner of the $200 Myer voucher!

During 2013 we will be working hard to keep SAcommunity comprehensive and up-to-date. We find things out in many different ways, but we love it when people tell us something - then we can tell lots more people. SAcommunity is a great way to bring information together and let it flow around the community.
