The South Australian Council of Social Service SACOSS

Can you take a minute to help SA’s peak welfare organisation with 4 survey questions?

The South Australian Council of Social Service (SACOSS) is the peak non-government body for health and community services in SA.

SACOSS does not accept poverty, inequity or injustice. They undertake policy and advocacy work to improve the lives of disadvantaged and low income South Australians.

Just recently SACOSS has been exploring some strategies to strengthen the sector by increasing their membership base.  As part of this process, they’d like to hear from people who are not already SACOSS members.

If you live in South Australia and work in the community services sector, could you please help by filling in this quick survey (only 4 questions).

If you’re not familiar with our work, SACOSS' purpose is to influence public policy in a way that promotes fair and just access to the goods and services required to live a decent life.

With a strong history of community advocacy, SACOSS and its members aim to improve the quality of life of people disadvantaged by the inequalities of our society. We speak with and for the marginalised, vulnerable and disadvantaged, whose voice and interests need to be brought to the attention of government, business, media, policy makers and the wider community at large.

SACOSS has a strong membership base of around 300 people and organisations from a broad cross-section of the social services arena. Members of our organisation span both small and large agencies, peak bodies, service providers, individuals, and some government departments.

Members display an impressive commitment to social justice in South Australia, manifest in our 40-strong Policy Council and range of sub-groups that tackle specific issues. With their support, SACOSS analyses, negotiates and argues for fair and effective public policy, and provides independent information and commentary to the sector and the broader South Australian public.

SACOSS is part of a national network, consisting of the Australian Council of Social Service (ACOSS) and the State and Territory Councils of Social Service, which assist low income and disadvantaged people Australia wide.
