headspace on #headspaceday
headspace
On October 11 Headspace Day was celebrated for the first time. Headspace is a government initiative which provides mental health information, support and services for young people. Headspace day was about promoting the foundation and ensuring young people across the country have access to youth friendly, mental health services, no matter where they live.
SAcommunity contacted Headspace Adelaide to find out more about the event and why it is important for everyone in Adelaide to come together to raise awareness about youth mental health.
headspace and #headspaceday
#headspaceday signifies what headspace is: a comprehensive, early-intervention mental health service for 12-25 year olds. Young people can visit one of our 95 centres across the country to get help, seek advice or have a chat online or over the phone, from anywhere in Australia, through eheadspace.
headspace Adelaide centre manager Andrew Moulding said #headspaceday is an unprecedented opportunity for people in Adelaide to raise awareness about youth mental health.
“By wearing a #headspaceday wristband on 11 October, every Australian can share their support for young people experiencing mental health issues and raise awareness about the importance of access to services for all young people,” Andrew said.
headspace is for every young person
Every year, a quarter of all young people across Australia will experience mental health issues and we want them to know that headspace is here to help.
Over the past decade, close to 260,000 young people from all over Australia have had access to mental health care with the provision of more than 1.5 million services in person, online or over the phone at headspace.
headspace operates 95 centres across Australia, for details visit www.headspace.org.au.
If you are having a tough time, visit your local centre or contact headspace on 1800 650 890 or www.eheadspace.org.au.
