Writers SA (formerly the SA Writers Centre Inc)

Writers SA, formerly known as the SA Writers Centre, is the key not-for-profit organisation in South Australia involved in fostering writers and writing, the centre has supported various members within the writing community and we asked them to share with us more about their activities.
Writers SA is a not-for-profit membership organization based in Adelaide. As the key literary organisation in South Australia, it works to foster, develop and promote writers and writing, and to support a diverse literary culture. Established in 1985, the Centre was the first of its kind in Australia, developing a model that was replicated in every state and territory over the following 10 years. We continue to act as a central resource for writers of all ages, experiences and genres, supporting them at every stage of their writing journey.
Writers SA provides an extensive program of skills development workshops and forums covering craft, genre and industry information and skills, and a range of professional development opportunities including mentorships, residencies, exchanges, pitching opportunities, publication opportunities and manuscript assessments.
We also run annual program of sector development activities including weekend festivals, networking and reading events, and act as the key producer of literary events in South Australia, delivering programming across a variety of corporate, education and community sectors.
Writers SA is particularly committed to access and inclusion in our programming, and run a suite of unique access programs for young writers, LGBTQ+ writers, writers with disability, and First Nations writers.
