Parkinson’s South Australia is a not-for-profit organisation that has provided support and information to people living with Parkinson’s and other related movement disorders, their carer’s, family, community and health professionals for over 30 years.

 

The organisation represents and supports the 8,000+ people with Parkinson’s in SA their carer’s and families. Parkinson’s SA provides support across the continuum of the condition, from diagnosis, through the early stages and the progression of the disease. Parkinson’s SA provides expert information and support services that no private or government agency offers.

 

Some of the services provided include a variety of support groups – catering for all ages and stages of the condition, as well as for carer’s. A dedicated telephone support line to assist anyone with questions and/or concerns that operates Mon - Fri and is staffed by professional health care workers.

 

‘Parkinson’s in the Park’ is at the Soldier’s Memorial Gardens (corner of Thomas Street & Unley Road Unley), on Sunday 8th April from 10am – 3.00pm. There’s plenty of off-street parking and we’re right next to the Unley Shopping Centre.

 

Now in its 7th year, bring the family along and join our official ambassador, Amelia Mulcahy (Channel 7) for a bunch of fun, family-friendly activities including traditional fete-style stalls, great food and so much more. There’s a host of ‘come ’n’ try’ activities including dance, art, pottery and exercise demonstrations.

 

If you’re a history or architecture buff – or just plain curious - join real estate supremo Robin Turner as he guides you on a gentle, 30-40 min stroll through Unley discovering Adelaide’s architecture from Federation to today. Walks commence at 11am and 1.30pm…and are extremely popular!

 

 

Pups for Parkinson’s Family Dog Show

We know how many of our friends love to bring the furr-kids along so we’re holding our inaugural ‘Pup’s For Parkinson’s’ family dog show from 11am. You’ll can register you & your dog on the day (or pre-register via our website) in the following categories; Best Family Dog (tricks); LookaLike (owner & dog); Best Costume (owner & dog). Great prizes on offer donated by P & K Pets & Adelaide Vet. Judges are Mark Aiston (and his dog Jack) and Amelia Mulcahy (and her dog Winston)

 

 

Pies for Parkinson’s

Fancy winning our first ever ‘Best Pie’ award? Then why not enter your favourite family pie in our baking competition? You can make 1 x family pie or 4 x individual pies. There’s 4 categories; Kids Pie (7 – 12 yo), Teenage Pie (13 – 17 yo), Savoury Pie and Sweet Pie. Get the imagination flowing and see what you can come up with. Fun prizes and bragging rights on offer. The winning pies will be sold after the judging, so you can take home a slice of heaven! Judges are award-winning baker Simone Ridge-Cooke and Australian golf superstar Stephen Leaney.
