The Barossa Rose & Flower Show

Following on from its humble beginnings way back when of being a mid-week, one day display as a fundraiser for the local church, the Barossa Rose and Flower Show (BR&FS) has become one of the best floral shows in Australia.

Our Sponsors and Partners
To become self sufficient, since 2012 the BR&FS has come under the banner of Roses in the Heartland, a branch of the Rose Society of South Australia. Roses in the Heartland is one of four Branches of the Rose Society of S.A taking care of Rose Society members from Gawler to Pt Augusta, then the Yorke Peninsula across to Blanchtown. The others being South East Branch (South East of S.A.), Roses on Eyre (Eyre Peninsular) & Chaffey Rose Club (Riverland through to Hay, NSW).

The Rose Society is extremely supportive of the BR&FS, allowing us to borrow their table covers & having their trained Rose Judges to judge the show & generally assisting where ever possible. The judges also exhibit but are not allowed to judge their own exhibits. The judges are also on hand to speak with the public about why “one exhibit is better than another”.

A Biennial Event!
In 2016 the show moved to a central location to the St Paul’s Church on the corner of Murray Street & Basedow Road, Tanunda. This proved very favorable for Barossa patrons.
Due to the huge amount of behind the scenes work from one show to the next the show has now become a biennial event, held once every two years.

The Show Schedule
The 2018 show schedule has classes for everyone, from beginners to the open classes for the experienced exhibitor. The children have their own special classes for placing a flower in a bottle to floral arranging.
The Barossa Beauty sponsored by Mrs Margaret Lehmann and the Barossa Head of Roses sponsored by Colorado Vines are classes for ‘ Barossa Residents Only’  and the prize money is well worth putting in an entry.
Other special classes open to all exhibitors are the Barossa Head of Roses sponsored by Knights Roses & Champion Iris sponsored by Roots N Leaves.

Celebrity Author
Mr Trevor Nottle, gardening extraordinaire and author will officially open the show on Saturday 27th October at 1pm. Trevor will have his latest book for sale and will be available to chat on the Saturday and Sunday of the show.

Home-made light lunches

The St Paul’s ladies will be serving home-made goodies for light lunches & afternoon tea in the church.

Barossa Nursery, Roots ‘N’ Leaves (iris) and Cut Above Tools will be on hand for your retail therapy.
