Parkinson’s Walkathon 2019: Not a Walk in the park for those living with Parkinson’s

Parkinson’s South Australia is a not-for-profit organisation represents and supports the 8,000+ people with Parkinson’s in SA their carer’s and families. Parkinson’s SA provides expert information and support services that no private or government agency offers. Some of the services provided include a variety of support groups – catering for all ages and stages of the condition, as well as for carer’s. A dedicated telephone support line to assist anyone with questions and/or concerns that operates Mon - Fri and is staffed by professional health care workers

‘Parkinson’s Walkathon’ is a fundraiser and family fun day all in one. Held at the Soldier’s Memorial Gardens (corner of Thomas Street & Unley Road Unley), on Sunday 7th April with the Walkathon stepping off at 9:15am and a fun filled, informative and interactive family fete day from 10:00am – 2:00pm. There’s plenty of off-street parking and we’re right next to the Unley Shopping Centre.

This year we are so excited to be offering festivities for the whole family. Come along and join our official ambassador, Amelia Mulcahy (Channel 7) as we celebrate the Parkinson’s community and raise money to support Parkinson’s SA and all of its vital services.

Join us for live music, market stalls, kid’s games, activities and face painting, plants, information, art, dance, pottery, animals and so much more. A full entertainment schedule will be held under the rotunda so come along, grab some food and enjoy the festivities – all while raising funds and awareness for Parkinson’s SA.

This is the major fundraiser for Parkinson’s SA in 2019 – let’s together make it a record breaker and show our community it may not be a walk in the park – but together with the support of Parkinson’s SA and associated networks - you can continue to live well with Parkinson’s.
