Dog Day Afternoon sets up to hit the ball out of the park!
Excitement is in the air for dogs and their owners in the lead up to the Dog Day Afternoon being held at West Torrens Dog Park on Saturday 6 April.
The Animal Welfare League (AWL) and the Hilton Hotel are joining forces for another show-stopper event to help raise money for desperate animals in need at the AWL.
Running from 10am until 2pm, community members are invited to bring their beloved pooches down to play with friends at the park, while partaking in an array of fun activates and enjoying freshly made coffee, chef-made cakes and a sausage sizzle (with vegetarian options) to top it off!
PR & Communications Officer for the AWL, Maddie McDonald, says that the event will add some fun and entertainment to the weekend for community members and pets alike.
“Community events are always such fun for everyone involved, and there’s no better way to spend your Saturday than at the dog park watching our four-legged friends play while you enjoy great company, food and coffee,” says Maddie.
As part of the event, the AWL team will also be running DIY Enrichment tutorials, hosting fun games for dogs and owners, and will even display a ‘Virtual Adoption Stand’ for those who may be looking to add another member to their families.
“Everyone loves the dog park, and the only way to make it better is to add some food, coffee and activities for everyone to enjoy – so that’s what we’re doing.”
In the hopes to raise money for the 10,000 animals that enter the AWL each year, the team will be collecting donations on the day, and all funds raised from food and merchandise sales will be directly donated to the AWL.
“The Hilton Hotel has always been an enthusiastic supporter of the AWL, and we’re fortunate to have a kind and generous community who help us to provide for the thousands of animals in our care. Without any government funding we heavily rely on the support and donations from our community,” Maddie explains.
“With Winter on the way, we’re hoping that this event will be an opportunity for us to raise plenty of funds before the cold kicks in!” For more information on the upcoming event or on how to donate visit awl.org.au
