Vinnies CEO Sleepout - 20 June 2019

What: Vinnies CEO Sleepout 2019 : One night event to help the St Vincent de Paul Society support homeless Australians throughout the year.
When: 20 June 2019
Where: Wilson Car Park, Adelaide CDB
How: Sponsor a CEO/team here>> and contribute towards breaking the cycle of homelessness across Australia.

The annual CEO Sleepout is expected to be the largest yet, as CEO’s and leaders from all sectors across the country join in solidarity to raise awareness and funds for the growing number of people experiencing homelessness in Australia.

The St Vincent de Paul Society (‘Vinnies’) in Australia has more than 60,000 members and volunteers, who work hard to assist people in need and combat social injustice across Australia. Internationally, the Society operates in 153 countries and has over 800,000 members.

“The latest census results indicate homelessness is increasing overall in Australia, and in most States – including South Australia. The figures are disturbing, with 50 people homeless to every 10,000; an increase from 48 per 10,000 in 2011, “Mr David Wark, CEO, St Vincent de Paul Society SA, said.

Homelessness can occur unexpectedly and is due to many reasons such as a relationship breakup, illness, unemployment or other crisis often catapulting into a spiral of poverty.

The Vinnies CEO Sleepout in Adelaide last year raised over $715,000, which Vinnies hopes to exceed this year, with a stretch goal of million dollars. The event will take place at a Wilson Car Park on the 20th of June 2019 in the Adelaide CBD.

“Funds raised at the Vinnies CEO Sleepout will enable us to keep up with increasing demands for our meal services, for material assistance provided through our home visitation service and to support hundreds of people staying at our crisis accommodation centres,” said Mr Wark.
