Manic about jigsaws? Willunga Jigsaw Mania is on again in 2022, bigger and better than ever before. Mark Saturday 30 April at Willunga Recreation Park in your calendar right now.
Willunga Jigsaw Mania is the missing piece in any jigsaw enthusiast’s life. With new event sponsor, Ravensburger, providing exclusive 500-piece jigsaws for solo puzzlers and teams of two or four to tackle, Willunga Jigsaw Mania keeps going from strength to strength.
The team events will be held in the morning starting at 11am, with three hours to complete a brand new 500-piece puzzle. With appetites whetted by the fun had in teams, we are encouraging as many as possible to have a crack at a different Ravensburger puzzle on their own in the afternoon in the solo competition. The mania sets in as the time winds down, with great prizes for the winners in all categories.
The first South Australian to complete the solo 500-piece puzzle will go on to represent the state at the national event in Melbourne later in the year. The national winner wins a trip to Ravensburger in Germany to compete at world level!
The fun and prizes don’t stop there. Puzzlers are encouraged to dream up creative team names and don fancy dress. Some favourites from last year were UN Piece Keepers with their blue berets, The Perpetually Puzzled and Under Pressure.
In the lead up to Willunga Jigsaw Mania, members of the community will again be invited to complete a mega jigsaw. After an 18000-piece one in 2021 was such fun, organisers have secured two this year – a 13200-piece Disney themed one and an 9000 piece ‘artier’ one for puzzlers who like lots of stormy sky! Work on these commences in March and will be done on Wednesday mornings and Friday evenings in the CWA Rooms. These and the 2021 jigsaw will be on display on 30 April. Once again, there will be a monster raffle to win and a jigsaw puzzle swap to exchange your jigsaw with someone else’s. A licenced bar will operate with tea, coffee and catering on site. Some entrants like to bring their own ‘brain food’, and that’s fine too.
Willunga Jigsaw Mania is one of the four major fundraising events for the redevelopment of Willunga Recreation Park, a facility owned by the community for the community.
