Many local councils and community groups across South Australia host annual Christmas pageants that bedazzle, entertain and bring Christmas festivities to locals. 2019 proves no exception, with family friendly activities, food, fireworks and the spirit of giving at the forefront of celebrations state-wide!

National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant
Date: 9/11/19
Where: Starts on Corner of South Terrace and King William Street, Adelaide SA 5000
Time: 9:30am-11:30am
What we recommend? This year marks National Pharmacies first year as the naming partner, as well as a new route! Be sure to become familiar with the exciting new route the pageant will travel, as it will voyage through the heart of Adelaide beginning on South Terrace, before Father Christmas greets eager onlookers outside Adelaide Town Hall.There are 4 new floats including the National Pharmacies Lead Float, Cinderella and Mermaid Christmas. The fourth float will be launched much closer to Pageant Day.

NF McDonnell & Sons Mount Gambier Christmas Parade
Date: 16/11/19
Where: Commercial East Road, Mount Gambier, SA 5290
Time: 11:00am-12:30pm
What we recommend? Celebrating the 60th anniversary of their pageant by watching all the entertaining and festive floats! Many local community groups and schools take part in The City of Mount Gambier’s annual float competition, so be sure to show them plenty of support. Bonus: this pageant is paired with the Lions Club of Mount Gambier’s annual Blue Lakes Brass Band festival, ensuring an energetic combination of visual and live entertainment.

Riverfront Christmas Festival
Date: 16/11/19
Where: Bridge Street and Sturt Reserve, Murray Bridge, SA 5253
Time: 5:00pm-9:00pm
What we recommend? Heading to Sturt Reserve following the pageant festivities to continue the Christmas celebration! The park will host carnival rides, market stalls, food vendors and a spectacular fireworks display to light up the night.

Twilight Christmas Parade
Date: 16/11/19
Where: Commercial Road, Port Adelaide, SA 5015
Time: Starts at 6:00pm
What we recommend? Definitely check out the free after party from 7pm onward. Santa will be inside his cave, along with plenty of entertainment including market stalls and fireworks!

City of Onkaparinga Christmas Pageant
Date: 17/11/19
Where: Beach Road, Christies Beach, SA 5165
Time: 10:00am-1:00pm
What we recommend? As the festivities start early in the day, why not make it a full day out? Following the pageant, the Christmas celebrations continue at Rotary Park, where there will be free live entertainment, children’s games, and the opportunity to meet Father Christmas for a photo opportunity!

Norwood Christmas Pageant
Date: 23/11/19
Where: Starts at Woods Street, before heading to The Parade, Norwood, SA 5067
Time: 10:00am-12:30pm
What we recommend? Over 20,000 people are expected to line the streets this year, so be sure to snag your spot early in the morning. Bring plenty of chalk for prior to the pageant too, helping create Christmas magic along one of Norwood’s iconic locations!

Glenelg Christmas Pageant
Date: 24/11/19
Where: Jetty Road and Colley Terrace, Glenelg, SA 5045
Time: 10:00am-12:00pm
What we recommend? The Glenelg Christmas Pageant offers the best of both worlds with the annual pageant located super close to Glenelg Beach. After watching the local community groups, sporting clubs, local schools, and Father Christmas himself spreading Christmas cheer, it is the perfect chance to hop down to Glenelg Beach for a fun day out!

Loxton Lights Festival
Date: 30/11/19-31/12/19
Where: Loxton SA 5333
What we recommend? The town of Loxton celebrates Christmas with a whole month of events as everyone enjoys the spectacular lights displays and hand-painted Christmas scenes. Be sure to bring your family and friends to Loxton Light Up Day, where the festival officially kicks off with entertainment, food and fireworks!

Playford Community Christmas Pageant
Date: 30/11/19
Where: Starts on the corner of Anderson Walk and Queens Street, finishing behind Munno Para Shopping City, Munno Para SA 5115
Time: 9:30am-11:30am
What we recommend? Getting a spot early as it is an event that is sure to fill up quick! With businesses, community groups and local schools from the Playford area beating at the core of this pageant, it is worthwhile checking out the Christmas festivities they are showcasing for everyone.

Salisbury Community Christmas Parade
Date: 30/11/19
Where: John Street, Salisbury, SA 5108
Time: 10:00am-11:30am
What we recommend? Immersing yourself, family and friends in the line-up of entertainment. Rides, amusements and clowns will all bring Christmas spirit into the heart of Salisbury’s CBD, plus free face painting, photos with Santa and balloons!

Stirling Community Christmas Pageant
Date: 01/12/19
Where: Stirling, SA 5152
Time: Starts at 4:00pm
What we recommend? Going to watch the floats! This year’s pageant theme is “Back to Nature”, so we are anticipating some pretty incredible float designs about the environment from Adelaide Hills community groups and local schools. There will also be a Christmas Market Fair following the pageant, with Christmas gifts, kid's activities and entertainment.

St Nicholas Comes to Hahndorf 2019

Where: St Paul's Lutheran Church, Hahndorf, SA 5245
Time: Starts at 6:00pm
What we recommend? Giving is a fundamental element of Christmas and the St Nicholas Comes to Hahndorf event certainly acknowledges this. The renowned “St Nicholas Boot” will be distributed among the public for donation to the event’s selected charity during the festivities. The event gives back too, with children receiving free gingerbread from St Nicholas himself!

Mount Barker Christmas Pageant
Date: 07/12/19
Where: Starts at Adelaide Hills Recreation Centre Oval, finishing at Walker Street, Mount Barker, SA 5251
Time: Starts at 10-10:30am
What we recommend? This is an event you wish to arrive early for, as it is the second largest Christmas pageant event in South Australia! The Mount Barker Christmas Pageant Committee has brought Christmas joy to Mount Barker for nearly 40 years, so rest assured it will be a festive time for everyone.

Port Pirie Christmas Pageant
Date: 07/12/19
Where: Starts and finishes on the corner of Gertrude and Norman Street, Port Pirie, SA 5540
Time: Pageant starts at 7:00pm. Pageant in the Park event from 5:30pm-10:00pm
What we recommend? Experiencing the full entertainment Port Pirie are offering. With food, drinks, stalls, rides and entertainment available from 5:30pm until 10pm, it will be a memorable family friendly event!

Old Reynella Christmas Pageant
Date: 13/12/19
Where: Old Reynella Main Street and John Reynella Park, Old South Road, Old Reynella SA 5161
Time: 4:00pm-7:00pm
What we recommend? From fire twirlers, to face painters, there is a lot of roving entertainment to enjoy! Along with competitions for best float, best dressed and best entertainment group, they are debuting their Pageant Prince, Princess, Queen and King!

Christmas where the Angas Flows

Victor Harbour Christmas Pageant
Date: 14/12/19
Where: Pageant travels along Ocean Street to Warland Reserve, Victor Harbour SA 5211
Time: Starts at 5:15pm
What we recommend? Arriving early to see the Santa Fun Run! Following this, be sure to head to the Grosvenor Gardens after the pageant to experience community carols from the Granite Community Band. With lots of food to enjoy and Santa ready for meet and greets, it is a fun event for everyone!

Christmas Pageant, Christmas Market and Carols in the Square
Date: 15/12/19
Where: Queen Square, 73/75 George Street, Moonta SA 5558
Time: Pageant begins at 5:30pm
What we recommend? As per the event title’s suggestion, Moonta are bringing their all for this year’s festivities! Complete with a market, a free bouncy castle, magic show plus a Carols by Candlelight concert all held in Queen Square, this Christmas celebration has something for everyone.

Goolwa Christmas Festival
Date: 15/12/19
Where: Cadell Street and Goolwa Oval, Goowla SA 5214
Time: Starts from 6:00pm
What we recommend? Listening to the carols as the sun sets sounds pretty idyllic. Couple this with a fireworks display and it’s a perfect night out with family or friends.

Lobethal Pageant Night
Date: 23/12/19
Where: Main Street, Lobethal SA 5241
Time: Pageant begins at 7:30pm
What we recommend? While the pageant itself runs for one night, the festival runs for most of December! Be sure to check out the residents Christmas light displays as they cast a spell over Lobethal, along with their other special events and attractions!
