Do you live in a rural town? Do you work in preventive health programs? Do you help to prevent illness and injury? If you answered yes to these questions, you may be eligible to apply for a SA Healthy Towns Challenge grant worth up to $50,000.

The SA Healthy Towns Challenge is a grants program for rural towns to develop and implement preventive health programs in their community. The Challenge will award grants of up to $50,000 to at least five rural towns.

The good news is that individual towns can apply, plus groups of organisations from the same town and organisations from a cluster of towns can also apply. All you have to do is make sure the program or project has a focus on improving the health and wellbeing for those living in the town. This can be through helping prevent illness and injury in a way that provides immediate and measurable benefits to the community. Projects must be short term (up to 12 months) and undertaken in partnership with an External Partner or a not-for-profit organisation with expertise in health and wellbeing.

Even if you don’t meet the eligibility criteria, you can always help your town by encouraging other organisations to apply and spreading the word about the Challenge.  s
