The Loxton Christmas Lights Festival committee was formed after a couple of residential streets started creating beautiful light displays that were attracting people to town for a much-needed tourist attraction. From there the group started to decorate other parts of town and created an annual event to mark the 'turning on of the lights' - Loxton Light Up Day. Over the past 30 years we have grown to one of the Riverland's biggest family festivals, now attracting thousands of visitors to our town.

Christmas is a magical time, full of enchantment, celebration and family. For over 30 years the Loxton Lights Festival has been embracing the joyous festive season with locals and visitors alike. Loxton shines brighter than ever on Light Up Day, kicking off the Lights Festival on 26th November with the town’s biggest party of the year! From 26th November to 31st December, the local community turns on its magic with large clusters of residential streets featuring homes adorned with thousands of twinkling light displays and over 350 unique hand-painted Christmas scenes. Christmas Wonderland is the star of the Lights Festival and a ‘must see’ display stretching over an amazing 250 metres! An enormous Christmas Tree dazzles in the centre of town and you’re invited to enjoy the many events throughout the Loxton Lights Festival that will uplift the spirit and touch your heart, creating lifelong memories for the whole family.
Ease into Christmas holidays
You can immerse yourself in the Christmas spirit and celebrate in Loxton’s vibrant main street with a free family street party including entertainment, amusement rides, twilight markets, music and all-day shopping. Children can visit Santa, collect free goodies on the Reindeer Road and join in Christmas Crafts. Then, the sky comes alive at 9pm with an incredible fireworks spectacular to mark the beginning of the award-winning month-long Lights Festival.
The festival continues to grow through new events, different lighting displays and attractions to ensure people come back each year. It gives everyone, including the Local Council, the opportunity to contribute in many ways to one large attraction that benefits the whole town.
