Eligibility:
Individuals aged over 65 years and their carers residing in the southern metropolitan area. Some programs have more specific target groups living in specific council areas.
A My Aged Care referral number is required to access community respite services. Contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 for more information.

The support we offer is flexible; choose from day or overnight respite in a variety of settings, either at home or at one of our cottages or residential sites. Cottage and overnight respite clients enjoy homemade meals in a home style environment in the southern metropolitan area.


We are highly trained and experienced in meeting the needs of older people, including those who have problems associated with memory loss or confusion.

Services
  • Respite care (in-home) - with low-moderate care needs, including dementia.
  • Respite care (community) - Respite Clubs for carers. Frail aged/memory loss groups meet at local community centres.
  • Day care - weekly programs with low-moderate care needs, including mild-moderate dementia, living in the southern metropolitan area. Must have a carer as program is structured as carer respite. Lunch, morning and afternoon tea is provided
  • Day/overnight, out of home respite - Ridgway House: short stay home-style overnight respite care for up to 4 nights, Mon-Fri, primarily for those living in the southern metropolitan area but will not exclude others, particularly those from rural/remote communities. Must have a carer, as program is structured as carer respite. Carers may stay overnight, all meals included.
  • Social integration - home-based club for Italian aged and dementia sufferers living in the councils of Holdfast Bay, Marion, Mitcham or Unley. Italian-speaking support worker and volunteer available
  • Carer support information provision, support and respite with low-moderate care needs, including dementia, living in the councils of Holdfast Bay, Marion, Mitcham or Unley
