The aim of the CPAA is to contribute to the quality of life of individuals through the provision of specialised physical rehabilitation, health promotion, scientific research and educational programs.
The Centre for Physical Activity in Ageing (CPAA) is a specialised unit of the Department of Geriatric and Rehabilitation Medicine, Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH, based at the Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre

- Major Programs:
- Exercise Rehabilitation including Falls and Balance
- Health Promoting Physical Activity Programs
- Work Related/Motor Accident Injury (compensatable rehabilitation)
- Physical Health Assessments
- Massage
- Teaching and Educational Programs (a Certificate level course for Fitness Leaders and Health Professionals)
- Special programs and exercise advice is available for individuals affected by stroke, cardiac including chronic heart failure, Parkinson's Disease, osteoporosis, chronic airways disease and orthopaedic conditions, cancer
- Other Services:
- Gym and swimming pool onsite with early evening and weekend sessions available
- Research
- Consultancy Projects (consults to government and private sector organisations)
- Exercise and the Older Adult training course for Fitness Leaders and the Better Balance Training program to improve function and reduce falls
