Child abuse cases are passed on to the Dept Child Protection office closest to where the child lives. Social workers, and police in emergency investigations, investigate the reports and work with families to ensure that children are safe.
South Australia has a system of mandated child abuse reporting. This is a legal requirement upon certain professions and community members to report suspected child abuse.
