- Investigates the conduct of legal practitioners and determines whether the conduct amounts to misconduct as defined in the Act
- Institutes a disciplinary enquiry in the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal and presents evidence for the Tribunal's enquiry
- Investigates allegations of overcharging
- Conciliates the subject matter of complaints
