An Aboriginal Medical Centre that provides culturally appropriate primary health care and health promotion programs for the Aboriginal community in Whyalla.

Services
  • Aboriginal Health Workers/ Practitioners (AHW/ AHP) are the first point of contact before seeing a doctor. They perform health observations, provide advice, referrals and advocacy. They may also perform blood taking or wound care depending on qualifications.
  • General Practitioners (GPs) available for appointments
  • Full time Registered Nurse in the Clinical Coordinator role to support and supplement the work of the Aboriginal Health Workers. Additional Registered Nurses available who can assist with wound care, health advice and other health services.
  • Free Adult and Children health checks are available every year to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Vaccinations (Influenza, COVID-19 - Pzier, Pneumococcal)
  • Childhood Immunisation
  • STI (sexually transmitted infections) Clinic
  • Women's Health - includes pap smears, breast and STI checks, education and information about hormone replacement. One doctor at the clinic is trained in obstetrics and can provide pre-and post natal care to mothers and babies. There is also a monthly women’s group.
  • Men's Health - Monthly men’s group and hold regular information sessions about topics such as bowel screening, prostrate screening etc.
  • Dental assessments
  • Visiting specialists include Diabetes Clinic/ Endocrinologist, Podiatrist, Optometrist, Speech Pathology, Physiotherapy, Ear Health, Respiratory Clinic, Grief Counselling / Psychologist. Out of town referrals available when needed.
  • Community Programs offered are Whyalla Aboriginal Elders Group (providing social and emotional support through networking and social activities for Aboriginal people over 55 years old in Whyalla), Nunyara Men’s Group (support group for Nunyara’s male clients offering social activities, health advice and networking opportunities), Whyalla Aboriginal Women’s Group (for all Aboriginal Women who are residents of Whyalla to attend for a cuppa and a yarn), School Screenings (Health checks for primary school children), Ambulance bill waivers (for those that cannot afford the ambulance bill)
