Eligibility:
Children 0-12 years and Adolescents (young people) 12-18 years (16 in some areas) and their families who are experiencing complex emotional issues, behavioural issues, social issues, mental illness or psychiatric problems. Support given for perinatal women too. Young people and their parents are encouraged to seek advice via their GP or current mental health service provider before contacting CAMHS, as we can only provide services to those that meet our intake criteria.

  • Specialised tertiary mental health service
  • Addressing complex emotional , behavioural or mental health challenges that may be related to significant, persistent emotional difficulties (e.g. depression, anxiety, tearfulness, worthlessness, distress)
  • Support for difficulty regulating emotions and/or undertaking high risk behaviours (e.g. self harm, suicidal ideation, disordered eating, persistent aggressive behaviour, substance abuse, risky sexual behaviour, homelessness)
  • Dealing with reactions to traumatic events
  • Help with psychiatric illness (e.g. delusional thinking and/or hallucinations)
  • Support for disability (with associated mental health difficulties)
  • Addressing experiences related to gender dysphoria
  • Early detection and early intervention services
  • Counselling and other therapeutic services
  • Family and individual therapy
  • Group programs for children and parent/carers
  • Information for parents/carers and family stakeholders
  • Hospital-based mental health care for children and young people and perinatal women/carers and their infants
