The South Australian Community Visitor Scheme (CVS) plays an essential role in promoting the wellbeing, dignity, safety and rights of people:

  • living with a mental health condition receiving care from a mental health service

  • living with a disability in a state-run disability service

  • who are under the guardianship of the Public Advocate and participants in the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

A volunteer-led scheme, the CVS visits, inspects and advocates for improvement to services.  The CVS protects people’s rights, while continually supporting the improvement and enhancement of care services.

Experienced, skilled, and independent Community Visitors conduct visits and inspections.  Community Visitors engage with clients and their families to make sure they have adequate information regarding their treatment, care, and rights and are supported to achieve better outcomes.
