Data Conventions & Standards

MARC 21 Format for Community Information Data defines conventions for community information records and contains descriptions of the data elements and examples.

In this case MARC 21 Community Information 856 - Electronic Location and Access  "electronic information pertaining to a community service such as the service or event website or related resources.."

Selecting + allows multiple entries and the dropdown will allow a range of social media channels to be added i.e. LinkedIn, or Other etc.

SAcommunity only utilises the Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) subset Uniform Resource Locator (URL) for automated access to an electronic resource located and accessed via  Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) i.e. https://  protocol as above. Please add the whole address for any social media channels associated with the organisation or service.

SAcommunity Blog
SAcommunity Story - links the organisation to their corresponding storytelling article on the SAcommunity Blog

These storytelling articles provide further information, news or events on the charity or not-for-profit group, club or organisation. Blog stories are diseminated through SAcommunity's media channels.

Blog stories are also tagged by relevant authorised subject headings providing additional access points, and by the local council where the group operates and/or events are held for the SAcommunity Council Media page. The Council Media page provides councils with a single link and summary to tagged stories on services operating in their area.
