Who are our Volunteers?

Who are our Volunteers?
Our volunteers have a wide range of backgrounds, skills, talents, interests and motivations for volunteering. We have collated a short film and some of our volunteer stories below explaining their experiences as these may resonate with you. We like to understand the specific skills or experience the volunteer is looking to gain and use this to place them in a suitable role, as this allows us to find a good fit for the positions we have available.

What are their Volunteer Experiences?

Some of our Volunteers created a film on why they decided to volunteer and their experience at SAcommunity on Youtube >>here: https://youtu.be/vF1xk_dsFEE

Tell me some Volunteer Stories
Some of our volunteers may be in a similar/familiar situation to you. Several in our team have written articles on their volunteer work and projects, opportunities for training, mentor assistance received, and their contribution to SAcommunity >>here: Volunteer Stories

What is the SAcommunity Council Volunteer Partnership program?
A number of our volunteers are also shared with South Australian Councils. Stathis Avramis and Rex Porter (in the photo above) also volunteer for the City of Prospect and are involved in the SAcommunity Council Volunteer Partnership program, to maintain community service contact details in the Prospect council area.

The data is used by the Prospect Council for community communication, grants and events such as the Prospect Spring Fair to engage with services operating in the council. 'Shared' City of Prospect volunteer Flavia also publishes articles on Prospect community services for SAcommunity media to reach a wide audience across the community sector.

How can my local government council become involved?
If your council is interested in joining the SAcommunity Council Volunteer Partnership program to improve the community information and capture stories on services in their council area contact the Community Information Coordinator cmcintyre@infoxchange.org

Find out more from our Volunteer and Intern Alumni
Our Infoxchange Volunteer Alumni features our past and present established Volunteers and Interns Infoxchange Volunteer Alumni https://www.linkedin.com/groups/10480547/
for established volunteers, i.e. those who have been with us for more than 3 months (60 hours).

Affectionately known as the brains trust, here you can find other current volunteers and interns to connect with, or past volunteers who have transitioned into the workforce and may be happy to be asked about their experiences.

From time-to-time we also highlight job opportunities, available training or employment topics of interest that may be of benefit through this channel, anything new happening in the organisation, any suggestions from our genius collection, contacts for references, and we like to keep in touch - Adelaide is a small place and we will probably meet again.
