Adelaide International Kite Festival 2023 (AIKF)
The Adelaide International Kite Festival, a popular and thrilling annual event is returning after a three year break due to COVID-19 restrictions. The festival will be held during the extended Easter weekend for one and all. Two interstate kite flying teams, four members from the Phoenix Kite Collective from Queensland and Kites for Kids from Victoria, will combine their kite flying skills along with several members from South Australia will all be present at the festival. Simon and Lyndall Chisnall, two international kite flying enthusiasts from New Zealand, and regular festival attendees, will also be there this year!
Kite Flying
Everyone is welcome to attend this spectacular event, either just to see the array of amazing kites on display, bring their own kites to fly and participate or even buy their own from the Festival Marketplace and Carnival area. Kite flying will take place between 11am and 4pm on all three of the festival days (subject to change depending on the weather) on the southern side of the jetty. Please note that the northern side of the jetty will be closed for registered flyers only.
Festival Marketplace
This year the Festival Marketplace will also be returning, with a variety of vendors selling kites, gourmet cultural food, children's clothing, and plenty of sugary snacks to savor while attending the festival! On the southern beachfront, the Marketplace will be open all three days from 11 am to 5 pm and is free to visit.
