Are you interested in gardening, or perhaps you've bought or inherited an established garden and want to learn how to manage it?
The Lilium and Bulb Society of South Australia (the Society) are welcoming new members and have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share. The Society meets monthly on the 1st Wednesday at 7:30pm.
Society members are interested in managing gardens in a sustainable and climate-friendly way. While the society is centered around the propagation and appreciation of liliums and other bulbs, many members are experienced gardeners who can help with general advice.
Attending meetings offers the opportunity to pick the brains of people who are familiar with Adelaide's climate and how things grow here rather than reading things in books or online where the advice might be geared to very different conditions.

Choosing bulbs from climatic regions that are similar to Adelaide with hot dry summers and cool, wet winters such as the southern Mediterranean, California and South Africa means that the bulbs are dormant during summer heat and need less water during that time.
An added bonus is that many bulbs multiply by producing offsets, making it quite simple to grow more of your favorite varieties or even share them with friends.
New members are welcome, learn more on the society's Facebook page or email lilysec23@gmail.com. Or visit the Society. along with other garden clubs at the Festival of Flowers on Saturday, October 11 at the Lights Community Centre, 270 East Parkway, Lightsview from 10am.
