National Volunteer Week 9-15 May 2016

This year, National Volunteer Week runs from Monday 9th – Sunday 15th May, and the theme for 2016 is ‘Give Happy. Live Happy.’

More than 6 million Australian volunteers give happiness to others each year by volunteering – and research says that those volunteers are happier as a result.

So we encourage people to celebrate volunteers and volunteerism, and highlight the value they bring to our community.

Thank you to our volunteers!

Connecting Up would like to take this opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge the contribution of our wonderful volunteers.

Our volunteers provide their time and skills to support SAcommunity and the Connecting Up Directory: Australian Not-for-profit & Charity Organisations, ensuring these services can continue to keep communities connected. They also assist us in many other valued ways across the organisation.

Our volunteers help local community services to promote themselves, find new members and make connections online. By maintaining the directories, they help overcome some of the roadblocks that prevent people from making contact with the services they need.

Thank you.

We accept volunteers interested in assisting us keep our directories up to date.

These directories provide essential community information to help people find the information they need, connect with services and get involved with their community.

Our Volunteers gain valuable knowledge of what is happening in the South Australian community when undertaking this sometimes repetitive, but always interesting position. Additional benefits for volunteers include gaining computer and information management skills.
