The South Australian Government’s Sports Vouchers Program continues to be available for all primary school students this year, despite the impacts of COVID-19 on sporting teams and clubs.

Step 2 of easing COVID-19 restrictions in SA will commence from Monday, 1 June. Different rules have been put in place for contact and non-contact sports played at indoor and outdoor venues. For the most up to date information about these restrictions, visit the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing website.
As we begin to return to sport, now could be a great time for both carers and service providers to consider how you may be able to take advantage of this scheme to assist and encourage children in joining or re-registering for community based sport.

SA Sports Vouchers Program – What is it and how can I apply?

The Sports Vouchers program was formed by the Government of South Australia to help more primary school aged children become involved in sports and dance by offering financial assistance towards any costs involved with registration or fees for these programs. Any child enrolled in (or eligible to be enrolled in) a South Australian primary school, including year seven which may be located in a high school setting, is able to receive the Sports Voucher, which is valued up to $100. The program is currently run by the Government of South Australia's Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing.

For carers, accessing the voucher depends on the club or organisation which you wish to register with. There are two ways in which the voucher can be claimed. Your club/organisation may have a claims process for the voucher built into their online registration system, in which case the voucher’s value is deducted from their fees before payment. Alternatively, you may need to download a copy of the voucher to take to your provider in person to receive the discount upon your registration.

The SA Sports Voucher is available for download on the Sports Voucher website. If you would like to claim the voucher it is best to speak to your club/organisation first to see which process they use, and to check that they are registered for the program. You can also search for registered providers using the Sports Vouchers website’s ‘Find a Provider’ tool. For clubs or sports providers, consider joining the scheme to assist your current members, encourage new members and reduce barriers for children in pursuing an active lifestyle.

COVID-19 Update:
With the resumption of many sporting activities, you may wish to use your Sports Voucher when registering or re-commencing with your chosen sport / dance activity. You should check with your club / organisation in the first instance to discuss their process for accepting and processing vouchers during this time. Further information on the Sports Vouchers Program can be found on their website here.
