A brand-new free music event supporting local and emerging musicians and artists kicks off this weekend at Glenelg’s Moseley Square.
The live music festival – The Local - will feature 12 bands and DJs in a relaxed, laid-back event that everyone can enjoy, from 1pm-7pm on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October.
"It’ll be held under the marquee that was set up in the square for the roller skating event which has just wrapped up. It’s the first live music event at Holdfast Bay since we debuted The SpinCycle Music Festival in January this year."
Once again, the focus is giving up-and-coming musicians a chance to shine on stage. Among them is Bermuda Bay, who formed their band at the age of 14 through the Brighton Secondary School music program.
The line-up for the two-day festival includes:
Saturday 17 October:
Sax Bates
Mannix and the Meltdowns
Loopole
The Effends
Bermuda Bay
Ethanol Blend
Sunday 18 October:
Big Uncle
Love Bus
Colter
Big Sloe
The Mondays
SODA
Venice Queens
“Our spring-summer events season is underway and it’s so great to be able to hold fun, community events that can be managed in a COVID-safe way,” Holdfast Bay Mayor Amanda Wilson said. “The Local live music event this weekend follows on from our Bay City Rolling roller skating event which was a great success over the October school holidays.
