Our housing future
Housing is important to all of us. It affects our communities and lives in far reaching ways, contributing to health, employment and the opportunities we have.
South Australia's Strategic Plan has a strong emphasis on housing with a number of targets focusing on improving housing and access to housing in South Australia. There are specific targets covering affordable housing, housing stress, Aboriginal housing, homelessness and housing for people with disabilities.
To help achieve these targets, the state government is developing a new Housing Strategy for South Australia and we want you to help shape it. A green paper has been released and comment is now being sought. You can download the green paper by visiting www.saplan.org.au/housingstrategy
There's also a range of short films where you can hear stakeholders discuss the big housing challenges facing the state and their ideas for the future. The films accompany online discussion forums which cover four key policy areas:
- Supporting people at risk
- Accessing social and affordable housing
- Affordable rental and home ownership
- Private rental
Housing is important to all of us. Take this opportunity to watch the films, read others' ideas and have your say on the future of housing in South Australia.
